According to a report released this week by the World Health Organization, air pollution has claimed seven million lives around the world in 2012.

Interestingly, over one-third of those deaths occurred in fast-developing nations of Asia, where the rates of cardiovascular and pulmonary disease have grow exponentially. Moreover, the report claims that one out of every eight deaths was causally related to polluted air.

The report identified air pollution as the world’s single biggest environmental health risk.
