Accutane is a form of vitamin A that allegedly reduces the amount of oil released by oil glands in the skin, and because of this, is commonly used to treat severe nodular acne.

Accutane was created by Roche Pharmaceuticals and approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1982.

However, Accutane has been attributable to a number of serious side effects, including inflammatory bowel diseases, chronic liver damage, severe depression, miscarriage and birth defects (if taken during pregnancy).

Roche recalled Accutane in 2009, but generic versions of Accutane, known as isotretinoin, are still available and widely prescribed.

Erin has helped many people who have experienced adverse side effects attributable to Accutane use.
